Hallie Lerman is an author and award-winning photographer.  She has written and lectured extensively on photography in the United States, Israel and recently Russia. Her photography has been part of numerous exhibitions.  “Inside Russia” is a portrait of modern Russia. Her images and text capture the passion she has for the country, its rich history, culture and customs. “From the moment I flew over the land and saw the undeveloped forests, Russia became real and connecting. I felt that as deep as I wanted to go, the country could contain me. The arts and traditions, the wretched history of my people, the suffering, created a familiarity and feeling as if I had been there before. And, maybe I have.”

Hallie is a master at weaving text with photography. She understands the power of the visual image and the written word. As both a writer and photographer, she has the unique ability to understand how each medium relates to and compliments the other.  Lerman is the author of two widely acclaimed books. “Crying For Imma: Battling for the Soul on the Golan Heights,” is the riveting story in prose and image of the first battle of the Yom Kippur war on the Golan Heights. The book received much critical success and recognition when she traveled around the country and Israel, giving hundreds of talks, on television, radio, and public forums. Her second book “A Second Chance: God’s Gift of Renewal,” is a beautiful journey of the power of the second chance through photographic metaphor. It was released less than a year ago. Hallie was a member of the Getty Museum’s panel on “Photography at the 20th Century” and the photography collectors’ committee at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Raised in Evansville, Indiana, she lives in Los Angeles.
